Review: Total Cleanse by holisticmiss

When I last posted, I was on the final day of a 3-day juice cleanse delivered to me by Toronto-based Total Cleanse. To begin my little review of this service, let’s look at the pros: Considering the number of juices (6 per day), the amount of produce that goes into each juice, delivery, and taxes, I’d say the price point for Total Cleanse is pretty good. For a 3-day cleanse I paid $144 CAD total ($48 per day). The price gets cheaper the longer the cleanse. When I’ve done juice cleanses on my own, I’ve always felt hungry at some point. Maybe it was the quality of the juices or just the psychological influence of paying for the cleanse, but I didn’t once feel hungry on this juice cleanse. Considering my own constitution, I’m pretty shocked at this. The only symptom that I had resembling hunger was that I missed chewing! I even considered extending my cleanse by a few days. The juices themselves tasted really good and with 3 green juices, 2 lemonades, and 1 berry juice per day, I didn’t get bored with the same flavours. So, where could Total Cleanse do better? My biggest beef with this service was their delivery times. The juices are delivered anytime between 8pm and 6am on Sunday or Wednesday nights. While you determine which day, there is no way to guarantee the delivery time. My juice was delivered to me on Sunday night, a little after midnight. I’m usually in bed by 11pm and it would’ve been good to be in bed even earlier the night before beginning the cleanse. The other major area I see for improvement is transparency and communication. The Total Cleanse website is not clear when it comes to important information like the delivery times or whether the juices are organic. (Organic produce is used if available, otherwise it’s conventional.) I only found out about the delivery times after sending an email inquiring about it. I also found out about the possibility of arranging a pick-up instead of waiting on a delivery — This is information that should be made available up front. I am happy to report that I gave Total Cleanse a call and talked to the owner, Rebecca, and she was super receptive to all of my feedback! I was able to communicate with Total Cleanse through Twitter, emails, and the aforementioned phone conversation, so even though a lot of it could’ve been avoided with clearer info on their website, I’m fairly pleased with their customer service. Final thoughts? Even though there were some things that bothered me about the service, Total Cleanse’s juices were great. I look forward to seeing how they move forward in the coming months and possibly referring clients to them and giving them another try myself next time I feel like doing a juice cleanse. However, before referring clients, I’d need to see more clear and comprehensive information on their website.
